Each week following an artist's post, reflection questions and research ideas will get posted. These are aimed towards college level courses (senior seminar, composition, dance education, and more), but of course anyone can read the postscript and find thought-provoking questions and activities.

Further Questions: After reading the post about artist Katie Faulkner, what questions do you have for her? Write into Blog Designer Jill Randall, and several questions will get answered on Friday. Click on "Email Me" in the column to the right.

Class Discussion: After reading the post, what phrase or phrases caught your eye? Why? Was it a logistical detail about Katie, a question she posed, or a thought about her work?

little seismic dance company Reel: Through Katie's website, or through Youtube, you can view her short reel. Click here. What is a reel? What is its purpose, and who is the target audience? Based on Katie's 3.5 minute reel, how would you describe her movement and her dances? If you had to create a reel of your choreography or of you performing, do you have the skills to edit various clips? If not, do you know who could assist you with this project?

Website Design: In this digital age, most dancers have their key information readily accessible on a website, whether you are an individual artist or have a company. Spend 5-10 minutes looking at the little seismic dance company website as an example. Click here. Looking at the choices of photos and choices of colors, describe the website. What categories are on her site?

Choreography and Dance Film: There are several clips on Youtube, including Until We Know for Sure, Katie's award winning duet in the AWARD Show at ODC. She also received an Isadora Duncan Award for the dance film Loom. View the pieces as a class and then discuss.

Duet: Until We Know for Sure

Dance film: Loom
