Each week following an artist's post, reflection questions and research ideas will get posted. These are aimed towards college level courses (senior seminar, composition, dance education, and more), but of course anyone can read the postscript and find thought-provoking questions and activities.
Research: ADF
The American Dance Festival is a longstanding, historically important dance festival based at Duke University in Durham, NC. Attending ADF was important, as Dawn launched into her career in her twenties. Spend a few minutes researching ADF and its many programs, including its newer MFA Program in conjunction with Hollins College.
As Dawn mentioned, her performance gigs were not through traditional auditions. What is your current perception about landing gigs? What surprised you about what Dawn described? How are you currently setting yourself up to land positions?
