Each week following an artist's post, reflection questions and research ideas will get posted. These are aimed towards college level courses (senior seminar, composition, dance education, and more), but of course anyone can read the postscript and find thought-provoking questions and activities.

View: Dance Films to Watch
Ellen was asked to suggest 3 dance films for blog readers to watch:
I recommend “The Cost of Living,” by DV8’s Lloyd Newson. It’s an older, important film: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ZTMyWt50kk. Anything directed by Thierry de Mey, especially “One Flat Thing Reproduced,” choreographed by William Forsythe, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cufauMezz_Q (not the entire piece). “Boy,” by Peter Anderson and Rosemary Lee is a classic: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JgvxzNBfJNA These are just a few that come to mind.
Discuss: Tackling Obstacles
Ellen wrote, "I now understand that the creative impulse supersedes obstacles." Discuss in a course what this means to you. What obstacles does a dancer face – in terms of finances, support, our society, and our bodies as our instruments?

Build: Your Dance Book Library
Ellen mentioned the book A Choreographer's Handbook by Jonathan Burrows. Consider this $25 purchase to add to your dance book library.
