Becoming an Arts Administrator: Transition Plans for Organizations

I was thrilled to read the newly released Living Transition Plan for Dancers' Group. Dancers' Group is a fabulous service organization in the San Francisco Bay Area – supporting artists, producing events, and communicating about the vibrant dance community in the Bay Area.

For anyone working in an arts organization or at a dance company, spend ten minutes to read this valuable and informative document.

The Living Transition Plan asks the essential questions about an organization and how it will progress after the founder, executive director, or artistic director moves on. Many, many arts organizations never think far enough ahead to see beyond the current staffing.

This document will inspire us all to consider the future and keeping an organization – and its mission – thriving even as people leave an organization.
