For Seasoned Teaching Artists: Reflection Questions and Inspiration for the Semester Ahead

A few weeks ago, I posted 23 questions for the upcoming semester. My colleagues Leah Cox (Associate Dean at ADF and Associate Professor at Bard College), Debra Knapp (Director of Dance at New Mexico State University), and Elizebeth Randall (professor at Saint Mary's College of CA and teacher at Shawl-Anderson Dance Center) helped me write these questions. These questions can be used by a wide variety of teaching artists working with children, teens, college students, or adults.

Each week, we will pose one of the questions online. We hope that you will take a few minutes to respond with a comment here. This week's question simply is:

What are you excited about in your work/program?

Please write your name, city, where you teach, and your response to the question. Feel free to share a sentence or a few sentences.

We hope that the opportunity to reflect and to read others' thoughts from around the country will be interesting and inspiring. Please join us!

  1. I teach at an independent middle school in San Francisco. I am excited because I get to have the same students for 3 years in a row. I am excited to launch new projects, which the students love (and also challenges me as a teaching artist). I look forward to the joy and creativity.
