The 2015 Virtual Writers’ Workshop for Dancers (Exercise #12)

I got inspired today reading this article on Culturebot, about Tere O'Connor's dance "Sister," performed by Cynthia Oliver and David Thomson.

Culturebot writer Stormy Budwig begins the interview by asking Cynthia and David to offer a "transcript like" description of the dance.

Today, I invite you to try this out with a current piece you are in or are choreographing (or a recent one). Can you make a "transcript" of the dance? How descriptive can you be in terms of movement, directions in space, relationships, dynamics, and design elements?

You might write a few paragraphs, or even a few pages.

This is a great exercise to challenge us to use more details and to paint a picture for our readers who have not experienced the dance yet.
