The University of Oregon's Master of Fine Arts Degree in dance provides a strong theoretical and practical foundation upon which each student can build an individualized degree. Flexible emphases, supported by faculty expertise, permit elective areas of study in performance, choreography, collaboration, education, history, contemporary issues, and dance science. The graduate teaching fellowship provides a tremendous opportunity for graduate students to hone their teaching skills while in pursuit of their degree. Graduate students have numerous opportunities to perform and present work. Many students seek collaborative environments in the areas of screendance, and as a part of the School of Music and Dance, there is great opportunity for choreographer/composer collaborations. Nestled in the natural beauty of Eugene, with a strong independent arts culture, there is opportunity for the graduate student to engage with the community and expand work even beyond the university.
