Becoming a Teaching Artist: A Useful Chart of the Skills We need

I was just reading an email from TASC, the Teaching Artist Support Collaborative of California. TASC is a wonderful organization working on behalf of teaching artists throughout the state of California, advocating for arts education as well as supporting working teaching artists. Reading further on its website, I found this useful chart that articulates the skills a teaching artist needs. They used four categories:

  • Understanding Your Art Form
  • Understanding Classroom Environment and Human Development
  • Understanding and Using Educational Pedagogies and Standards of Practice
  • Understanding the Business of Working in a School Environment
