Festivals That Bring Together Artists from Around the United States

Today we are highlighting festivals that bring together artists from around the country. Most of these particular festivals have an application and selection process. Expenses might include an application fee and travel costs; income might be a performance stipend and teaching stipend.

If you are motivated to get your work out of town and build relationships with new communities, check out these opportunities. Many festivals offer a stipend for participating, but most cannot pay for travel expenses at this time. Festivals might also be able to offer you guest teaching opportunities while in town, to bring in income while on the trip as well as publicize your work within the community.

If you direct a festival that can be included on this list, please email randalldanceprojects@gmail.com.

Breaking Ground (Arizona): www.conderdance.com

How can artists apply? CONDER/dance Submission Manager - an online application due October 10, 2015. There is a $55 application fee. If accepted, there is a $150 performance stipend.

Winter Wonder and Summer Sizzle (The Dance Complex, Boston): www.dancecomplex.org

Our festivals aim to engage dancers in new ways under the facilitation of visiting teaching artists who offer classes and workshops. Other events including performances, dialogues, and socials are mixed in as well for a fun, all-encompassing experience for participants and teaching artists alike.

There is no formal application process to teach or perform during the festivals as guest artists are typically hand selected. However, interested artists should contact Kara Fili at kara@dancecomplex.org. To register as a participant to take class and/or perform under guest choreographers, check the Dance Complex website; part and full-time registrations will be available.
