Locate, Shift, Escape, Obliterate?
Framing "Systems" in Dancer Citizenship
Does an understanding of “systems” frame your work? We seek a range of perspectives that investigate how socially engaged dance artists employ, exploit, uphold, improve, shift or dismantle established organizations, networks or policy-making structures; or create new mechanisms for practice, policy and/or theory.
Submissions are welcome in any form (written, video, other), and may be of any length and from any area of dance practice. The deadline for submissions is March 1, 2016, and may be made at http://dancercitizen.org/submissions/.
All accepted work will appear in the Spring 2016 issue of The Dancer-Citizen, to be published on May 1; and selected contributors may be invited into a collaborative process with The Dancer-Citizen towards the development of a curated live dance performance exploring generated themes.
The Dancer-Citizen is an online, open-access, peer-reviewed scholarly journal exploring the work of socially engaged dance artists. http://dancercitizen.org
