SaltDanceFest 2016 brings together internationally renowned artists and dance makers Jeanine Durning, Alex Ketley and Jennifer Nugent, along with esteemed SLC dance artists Daniel Charon, Molly Heller and Stephen Koester, for two weeks of moving, collaborating, dance making and the lively exchange of ideas, June 6-17, 2016. SDF is excited to have these significant, innovative artists, scholars and teachers in residence to share their unique and acclaimed artistic perspectives, range and diversity of aesthetics, and approaches to dance.
SaltDanceFest, housed at the University of Utah (a hub of dance pedagogy, performance and choreographic creation for the American West), is unique among dance festivals in its commitment to the mature exploration of the creative process. With participants from around the country and the world, the workshop is designed to be a laboratory that nurtures and supports experimentation, exploration, curiosity, collaboration and the development of innovative choreography. Participants work intimately with esteemed artists on developing and exploring ideas in dance and choreography. Now in its sixth year, SaltDanceFest 2016 offers classes in contemporary technique, composition, repertory, performance, improvisation, somatics, writing and partnering classes as well as performances and other events. This year promises to be another remarkable experience building upon the success of past years.
Come dance with us. We ask that you also please recommend SaltDanceFest to potential participants. For complete information on SaltDanceFest 2016, visit SaltDanceFest.com or dance.utah.edu.
