This is a shorter post this evening as we are closing out our festival. There is something so creatively inspiring about watching work by individuals that are both inspired and interested in what they are doing, that they cannot help but be interesting to the viewer. This evening we were able to view each of the artists involved in the festival present their own work. To see how much who they are in their daily practice come out in their choreographic work was just exciting to watch. They all seemed so at home in the work, so invested, and so much themselves. I don't have the words to explain the magic of wholeness that was present in the room this evening, but I do know that it made me excited about creating. It made me excited to make work that is true to myself, because anything else is not magic. These artists are truly inspiring to be around (I need a new word besides "inspiring," but that's what they are!) because they know what is important to them in movement and simply want to share that with us.
