Teach K-3 Creative Dance Classes? Some Book Suggestions for Exploring the Themes of Fall, Seasons, and Halloween

IMG_6251

From Blog Director Jill Randall:

One of my passions in creative dance classes is the intersection of language and movement. Books can spark ideas; the text can narrate a dance. For teaching artists and students alike, picture books can inspire improvisational activities as well as help shape a group dance. The colors, pictures, imagery, story, and phrasing of the language can all lead to new warm ups and projects.

I direct another blog – Dancing Words – which is dedicated to sharing about children's books on dance and books that can be springboards for dance explorations.

Interested in the theme of fall? Check out 4 selections here.

Interested in the broader theme of seasons? Here are 7 selections – stories and poetry books.

And, how about Halloween? Monsters, pumpkins, and ghosts…..read more here about 7 different options.

Here's to the joy and endless potential in K-3 dance classes!
