The Graduate Program at The College at Brockport (SUNY) offers two rigorous courses of study (MA and MFA) designed for dance artists interested in deepening their connections to the field as choreographers, educators, and performers. Set in the expansive landscape of Western New York, The College at Brockport provides the space and support for graduate students to delve into their individual explorations as artists — cultivating practices of study both in the studio and the seminar room that align with their interests. Through residencies and guest artists, the Dance Department additionally acts as a hub for emerging and established artists from Rochester to New York City. This constant exposure embeds our graduate students within a larger network of both national and international artists. The Department of Dance is housed within Hartwell Hall, which includes a dance conditioning lab, five spacious studios, Hartwell Dance Theater, and the 250-seat Rose L. Strasser studio/performance space. Graduates have gone on to choreograph, teach in K-12 as well as academia, build careers in arts administration, and have found success as makers and thinkers within the field.
