Dreaming/Preparing/Dancing: 5 Days Until the Premiere of EAMES by Kristin Damrow & Company

Anna Greenberg

Today we hear from two of the dancers on the topic of risk and rigor in EAMES:

From Heather Arnett:

Ray's seemingly incessant, quiet investment in her work earned her the nickname Buddha in her painting years. In becoming Ray for EAMES, I was inspired to talk less and do more. I identify strongly with the part of Ray that is fascinated and curious about the world around her, but found it difficult to sustain the level of intensity that those who knew Ray described. Ray has taught me to play, more. The recovery is in the playing.

From Anna Greenberg:

Rigor is inherent in EAMES. It is a constant that demands full attention and devotion. Trust it, live in it, and there is no risk. The risk is not giving myself fully to the work, to the story, to my fellow dancers. The risk is not making the art.
