Karen Castleman, one of the dance teachers at the Academy, shared:

Arkansas Arts Academy is a public charter school with an emphasis on the arts. That means it's free! Students receive rigorous academic courses along with the ability to dive into an art form like visual art, dance, vocal and instrumental music, theater, and more. Our dance department is unique for the area in that it is rooted in a classical ballet and modern dance curriculum. Students take ballet technique, pointe, modern (focusing on Horton, Humphrey and Graham techniques), as well as jazz, contemporary and choreography classes. The dance department presents classical and contemporary based performances twice each year. Dance students also benefit from master classes from visiting dance companies and touring Broadway shows that come to the Walton Arts Center or from collaborations and opportunities to perform at the gorgeous Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art in Bentonville, AR.
