Each month in 2018, we are highlighting one dance writing site. In January, we took a weekly read of Dance Tabs. For February – we will look at loveDANCEmore, coming out of Salt Lake City.
Initial impressions:
I have known of loveDANCEmore for a bit of time now, and founder Ashley Anderson has written two pieces for Life as a Modern Dancer as well (an artist profile and co-authored the Salt Lake City City Guide with Molly Heller). As an alumna of the University of Utah myself, I have kept an eye on the Salt Lake dance scene for the past 2 decades.
The site loveDANCEmore appears to be doing a stellar job regionally – to reflect and review on dance in the area and to support numerous local writers. I look forward to reading the site throughout February.
Initial questions:
- What is the size of the readership?
- Do writers receive a stipend?
- Are you also publishing reviews of Salt Lake City artists, but of their performances out of town?
- Is there any connection with the BFA or MFA programs at the University of Utah? How are we supporting future dance writers?
- Do you have a Facebook page, and how many people are on it?
Please be a part of the conversation! Write a comment below about your experience with loveDANCEmore as a reader, writer, or performer.
