Adaptations Dance Theater 

The State by State Project, through Life as a Modern Dancer:

Throughout 2018, we will highlight one state per week….its arts council, dance education organization, festivals, artist residencies, dance companies, and more. We will link to previous posts of artists based in the state, masters programs, and city guides. 

This ambitious feature hopes to highlight the abundance of arts in the United States as well as to challenge us to look at areas of the country seeking more arts and arts education.

Big Island Dance Council – a nonprofit on the big island leading classes and workshops

Maui Dance Council – As stated on its website,

The Maui Dance Council supports movement arts in Maui County with curriculum based arts education residencies, through professional development trainings for classroom teachers, in community classes and master workshops, and by advocating for the arts ​locally and nationally.

Adaptations Dance Theater – a company on Maui creating its own work, plus produces Dance Maui (a family-friendly festival) and the "Bring It Home" annual concert (which connects artists back to Hawaii)

University of Hawaii at Manoa – MFA in Dance with a focus on performance and choreography
