From Blog Director Jill Randall:

It was very fun to look back over the past 51 weeks and all of the content on the blog. I hope that you will click through and read, or re-read, some of the posts highlighted below. Each week, I continue to be so grateful for the artists who share their stories, who write a short essay, who talk about their upcoming project.

While there are 18 posts below, I did want to highlight two other important aspects on the blog this year.

  1. The 2018 Artists' Gratitude Project. Each week this year, we posted one idea related to gratitude. The weekly pause – the weekly consideration – was a beautiful activity.
  2. Reviews/Previews/One Good Quote. If you asked me 6 years ago if the blog would include dance criticism, the answer would have been no. But here we are – exploring the idea – and offering multiple angles to writing on dance projects. I love the 360 degree nature of it. We did previews for several shows in 2018; we published wonderful reviews/reflections by dance writers Molly Rose-Williams and Todd Courage. Plus, we explored the idea of audience responses with One Good Quote. The work feels right. And done with integrity and care, we want to keep the idea of dance criticism alive.
