Check out MidCentury Blue(s) This Weekend in Berkeley

MidCentury Blue(s)

The Wax Poet(s) – Garth Grimball and Heather Stockton – premiere their latest project today and tomorrow in Berkeley at Shawl-Anderson Dance Center. Check out the trailer here, filmed and edited by Heather Stockton, with music by Rhae Royal. A dance and lighting installation, the event runs about 30 minutes in length each iteration. Dancers include Frankie Lee Peterson III, Julie Crothers, and the Shawl-Anderson Youth Ensemble.

By looking back at how iconic mid-century artists used the color blue in paint and performance lighting, they, with lighting designer Jessi Barber, take a deep dive into creative lineage and question how historic choices inform today's work.                     Heather Desaulniers, SF Arts Monthly.

Tickets are available online through Brown Paper Tickets.
