Movement Poem #4 (Body Game)

Body game poem

Body Game
A movement poem for March 17, 2020 by Jill Randall

Clench:
    Upper
    Lower
    Shoulders
    Hands
    Face
    Buttocks
    Feet

Ah! Release ……….

Touch:
    Top of head
    Top of feet
    Front of heart
    Back of heart
    Sacrum
    Hip points
    Knees
    Ankles

Then stand up tall, please

Rising

Head reaching up – to a beautiful big sky
Feet growing down – soil + earth below
Soft front of throat
Soft back of heart

Dancing into a new shape,
A pose,
A moment for today.

Today's poem definitely reads more "instructional." The audio recording is a minute long to recite all lines.

I would suggest moving to the composition "Our Lady" by Michael Wall, Austin Booth, and Oliver Lewis. Listen to it here on soundformovement.com (first composition on the album).

Today I channel choreographers Molly Heller and Nina Haft, and Alexander Technique teachers Dawn Karlovsky and Shelley Senter. Thank you.

Personally:

-I first played with moving to the audio recording of the poem a few times.

-Then I put on "Our Lady" and riffed off of the poem for a short improvisation. Nothing set….just exploring.
