Hello! Good morning! Here's to a brighter week ahead. Thank you for exploring these ideas with me today through improvising and choreographing.
May I suggest the song "One or the Other" by Michael Wall? It is #2 on this playlist here on soundformovement.com.
-Consider first putting on the music and doing a short improv based on the key word in the poem – pour – or based on the title, "Contents/Container."
-Then, build a short movement phrase, choreographing one movement per line. Since the word pour is repeated several times, make some choices about repetition and variation on a theme.
-The title is a reference to a Body-Mind Centering idea (Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen). I am struggling to find an exact quote here, but the basic idea is to focus on the contents, versus the container. It is an inward focus, versus just appearance. (And, in the BMC work, Bonnie does all of this amazing work to move from your organs…)
