Movement Poem #14 (Placement)

Placement poem

Placement

A movement poem for March 28, 2020 by Jill Randall

Put

Place

Place in the air

Place in your pocket

On your soles

In your heart

On your head

To your face

Breathe.

Organize,

But then swipe the table

Brush

Clear

Clear

Stop.

Hands on table

Hands together

Hands on hips

On ears

On eyes

In the air

Open + close,

Hands that is

Open,

Open,

Open

Good morning! Today's poem is a slightly longer one for me.

May I suggest "7 60" as music accompaniment, by Michael Wall? Oh I love this piece! It is #5 on this playlist.

For today, consider beginning by putting on the music, and reading the poem aloud to yourself 1-2 times.

Without overthinking it, grab a few ideas or images from the poem and begin playing and improvising for about 2 minutes.

See if you can land on 8 movements you really like, and build a very short phrase. (Or, take on the task of  choreographing a longer phrase using the entire poem and every line.)
