Movement Poem #18 (Seeking a Daydream)

Seeking a Daydream Poem

Seeking a Daydream

A movement poem for April 1, 2020 by Jill Randall

I'm floating

an endless walk

light on feet

trampoline jumps

light tap

light touch

light lift

light lean

release of head

    hands

    knees

    ankles

floating

    water

    air

    cloud

    over there

full heart

open heart

back of heart

full exhale

Hello! I cannot believe the calendar turns to April today. Another day of Shelter in Place, and a perfect day to embody a sense of daydreaming. And daydreaming implies hope and wonder.

Today's music selection = "Gesture 5" by Michael Wall. It is #5 on this playlist.

May I suggest putting on the music, having the poem in front of you, and cycling through an improv, line by line? Keep going for the 3.5 minute duration of the song, which means you will go through the poem several times. Dive in, allow, don't judge. Just sketch, just dance.

If inclined today, choreograph a short movement phrase. Play with traveling/stationary movement, gestures, and tempo. Where can there be a moment of exaggeration, and also a microscopic moment highlighting one particular move?
