Each week following an artist's post, reflection questions and research ideas will get posted. These are aimed towards college level courses (senior seminar, composition, dance education, and more), but of course anyone can read the postscript and find thought-provoking questions and activities.
Finding balance. Rachael wrote about the balance and juggle with being a mother, wife, teacher, artist, and grad student. What's on your plate right now? How do you find balance – juggling schedules, priorities, and use of energy? How do you find balance between your dance life and non-dance activities and relationships? If things are not in balance right now, what are two action steps forward towards change?
Advice about "being." Deeply engrained in dance training is the idea of constantly "working on something" and working on corrections, rehearsal notes, becoming fitter, refining technique, etc. Rachael concluded her post talking about being where you are. Take a chance and apply this advice throughout the week in your technique classes, rehearsals, while teaching, and more. Reflect in a week on this.
Further research – low residency masters programs in dance. Rachael is a graduate student in Jacksonville University's low residency program. There are a small handful of these unique programs. Find out more about this graduate school option. (If you know of a program not listed, please write in.)
