From Blog Director Jill Randall:

Hello and Happy New Year! I always love the turning of the page, the new calendar in hand. I feel potential, hope, and opportunities ahead for the year.

Now 5+ years into this blog project, I am excited for 2018 and what's ahead. I am committed to posting 15+ pieces a month, nearly every other day. This includes:

  • 2 artist profiles. We ended 2017 publishing #162 with Nia Love. Much more to come!
  • 2 "catching up" profiles with some of the first 100 artists who wrote for the project.
  • 1 One Good Quote working with one performance each month to capture post-performance audience responses.
  • 4 State by State posts – a NEW feature in 2018. Each week, we will highlight one of the 50 states. We will look towards arts councils, dance education organizations, and festivals. We will connect with prior blog posts about artists working in each of the 50 states as well as masters programs and city guides. Where is dance taking place throughout the United States? What is vibrant, new, established, or growing?
  • 4 Gratitude posts – another NEW feature, the 2018 Artists' Gratitude Project. This ambitious project connects with artists of all forms each Monday, each week of 2018.
  • 1 Wellness post – let's spend 2018 thinking more deeply about wellness.
  • 1 "Spotlight on Dance Writing Sites" – looking extensively at the landscape of dance writing and dance criticism on the web this year. We will read up on one site each month (Dance Enthusiast, Dance Tabs, DIYdancer, Fjord Review, and much more).
  • 1 "My Dance Week" – and with a new twist in 2018! This ties in closely with wellness…
  • 1-4 more posts on varying topics, including: teaching, building a dance company, new books on dance, and arts administration.

If you have an idea to pitch for the site, please add your voice! Write me at randalldanceprojects@gmail.com.

Happy New Year,

Jill Randall
