Blogging from Salt Dance Fest: Natalie Gotter

NatalieGotter

Natalie Gotter is a dance artist, researcher, instructor, choreographer, performer, and filmmaker currently located in Salt Lake City, Utah where she is a MFA in Modern Dance candidate at the University of Utah. She is also in the process of receiving her certification in Screendance and Gender Studies.

I am attending Salt Dance Festival this year because I attended last year, and it was one of the most creatively refreshing experiences I have had to date. As I enter my final year of graduate school, I am utilizing this summer to reconnect with the things that I love about dance: self-expression, connection, and playfulness (to name a few!). Salt Dance Fest is a place that facilitates all of these things and then some! It is so incredible to be able to work with these amazing artists–Jeanine Durning, Alex Ketley and Jennifer Nugent– as well as deepen connections with the Salt Lake City dance community. I am hoping to be challenged, inspired, invigorated and ready to get in the thesis studio by the end of this workshop!

Key words to describe Day 1:

Fast-paced

Mentally stimulating

Trusting bodies
